For JLT, this initiative aligns perfectly with our mission of developing future community leaders. By investing in these young women now, we’re cultivating the next generation of League members and civic-minded leaders who will strengthen our community for decades to come.

We will host our inaugural Middle School Girls Leadership Summit on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Bloxham Building (725 S Calhoun St.). This half-day program will serve approximately 20 girls in grades 6-8 from across Leon County’s 10 middle schools.

PARTICIPANT EXPERIENCE

Selection: Guidance counselors from all 10 middle schools will nominate 2-3 girls who would benefit from a confidence boost and show leadership potential. Ideally these are girls not yet in leadership roles, but with the potential to get there. We also want to offer spots to the daughters of JLT members to deepen their buy-in and support our members and their families.

No Cost to Families: Girls receive a full day of programming, meals, and a goodie bag including notebooks, pens, inspirational items, hygiene products, a JLT-branded t-shirt, and a certificate of completion, all funded by donations.

Parent-Free Zone: Parents drop off and pick up, allowing girls to engage authentically with peers and mentors in a safe, supportive environment.

Summit Mission: To empower middle school girls to recognize their leadership potential, build confidence in themselves, and envision ambitious futures through connection with accomplished women, practical skill-building, and peer support.
